Bride aur Bill

Just like Sassi aur Punnu, Laila aur Majnoo, Romeo and Juliet have inspired lovers and singles to fall in love, so has the story of Bride aur Bill jori inspired and given nihilists like me to be enthusiastic about love (with a different angle and perspective).

This jori has been picturized into a legendary film the ‘Kill Bill’ duology. And who better to tell this story than our very favorite ‘pirate of Indian films’, maker of ‘pulp fiction’, Quentin Tarantino.

Quentin bhai, in my opinion supercedes James Cameron and Steven Spielberg. He has ascended the ordinary crap of Hollywood action flicks, where graphics rule the script, instead of being the other way round.

People might say that he has manipulated his deep knowledge of the mysterious Japanese/Chinese philosophies to create a variant of chick flick. I disagree and argue that these people are wrong. May their souls rot in hell for blaspheming Quentin bhai.

No matter how many times I watch ‘Kill bill’, I cannot stop admiring the greatest violently hilarious love story of all times. Yes, in a nihilistic sadistic world this would be the greatest love story you would say. But, I say NO!

This legendary story shows that violence and revenge can be sweet in the honorable and polite Japanese way. Essentially the story is a result of misunderstanding between two lovers, and in the end one ends up killing the other with the ‘five finger heart bursting punch’, where the lover dies after walking five steps. But the process of revenge is not so superficial for our Quentin bhai.

He has narrated the process of death for different adversaries, either by sword, bitten by black mamba or just having your eye ball plucked out. Whatever the method of revenge maybe, the pain of death is sweet to watch and so is the separation of two sophisticated lovers.

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I rate it number two in my updated list of all time influencing movies after the God father Trilogy. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
