Brandenburg Gate, Berlin 1945 and 2005
The top quarter of the photo captures the actual Brandenburg Gate, as it stands today. The rest of the photograph shows an artist's reconstruction of what it would have looked like sixty years ago in 1945, when much of the city was destroyed by invading allied forces. No high-tech trickery is involved in the photo, the Berlin authorities had put this reconstruction at precisely the right spot in front of the gate, this tourist just happened to be passing through the city at the right time, and joined other tourists in taking a photo.
