In Buddhism, historically there were forty potential subjects of meditation. This included ten asubhas, or impurities. Each asubha referred to a certain condition of human corpse. Out of interest, I record below the ten types:
i. bloated
ii. discoloured
iii. festering
iv. dissected
v. gnawed-to-pieces
vi. scattered-in-pieces
vii. mutilated and scattered-in-pieces
viii. bloody
ix. worm-infested
x. skeleton
