David Nason, the New York correspondent of the The Australian wrote the following sentence in a recent story: The ABC said it had obtained the tapes from John Tierney, an Iraqi-speaking former UN weapons inspector who was hired to translate them for the FBI.
Sure. Nason of course wrote this in New Yorker. The editor, who undoubtedly speaks Australian, obviously doesn’t know that Iraqi is not a language. And people make fun of Bush’s language!
