The Taxes of Religions

Osama Bin Laden's latest video tape sees him invite the American people to convert to Islam. Among the benefits he offers lower taxes:

"There are no taxes in Islam, but rather there is a limited Zakaat [alms] totaling 2.5 percent."

Osama has touched upon a matter which is close to my heart - the taxes of religions. Which religion is the most tax attractive? Bin Laden makes a case for the 2.5% levying Islam, as compared to what he calls the 'insane taxes' of the American Government, but for most of us paying the taxes of the state is not a matter of choice - but paying the taxes of religion is.

Hopefully one day in the not too distant future I will post my thoughts and do a comparison of the various religions, and help believers reduce their tax liability by choosing the religion that best matches their circumstances.

Until then, thanks to Osama for reminding the world that when choosing your God, you should consider his tax policy too!
